Arkansas Privacy bill vetoed by Governor Asa Hutchinson

Earlier it was reported that the lawmakers of Arkansas had passed a privacy bill which might probably kill street photography by needing (in most of the cases) that photographers have written permission from strangers they click pictures of. Photographers who would not get that might get sued by their ‘subjects.’

The world of photography was in a real uproar regarding the bill and they worked very hard to get it vetoed by the last date at the end of their day. Well, there are some great news indeed, because the bill reportedly has been vetoed Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Hutchinson, in a letter to the Arkansas Senate, explained why he vetoed the bill – the “Personal Rights Protection Act.” He told that he has done this in its present form, the bill is vague, overbroad and would have the effect of restricting free speech. He added that he believes that the absence of a clear exemption for expressive works will result in unnecessary litigation in Arkansas courts and would suppress Arkansans who engage in artistic expression from photography to art work. Tampa Bay couples struggling with photographer for held up wedding photos

A studio in the bay area appears to have lost their aim as well as their customers are now paying the price. These days, wedding ceremonies are not cheap at all and finding good photographers to save special moments is quite expensive as well.

Diana and John Heaner from Riverview celebrate their very first marriage anniversary on 1st February. The couple had a contract with the Gary Kaplan Photography to shoot their ceremony. But they still do not have their albums or any print.

John told that he gave them US$ 4000 dollars. The bills show that John paid Gary Kaplan Photography in full US$ 3995 for a full wedding photography package. In spite of many phone calls and emails, John told that he has not heard anything from Kaplan since 2014 October. As per John, that time Kaplan told that he was not well. Continue reading →

Sony shouts last call for the World Photography Award honors

Sony has asked photographers across the world to enter 2015 World Photography Awards. They have declared their last call for entries before this contest closes for entry submission on 5th January, 2015. Amateur shooters will battle for Open title, whereas pro photographers will fight for L’Iris d’Or/Sony World Photography Awards Photographer of the Year. The winner will be declared on 23rd April.

Top photographs from Sony World Photography Awards would go on display at the Somerset House in London and will be brought out in an accompanying book. And the judges for the contest include New York Times Magazine’s deputy photo editor Joanna Milter.

As one contest closes, another comes open, in the form of Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards that will start receiving entries for 8 weeks starting from 5th January. Dr Alex Mustard, a underwater photographer, told that like al judges, he is also expecting lovely images, something that he has not seen before. His advice for impressing the judges’ panel is to ensure your basics are exemplary and also different.

Sir David Attenborough, who has handed Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards on several occasions, told that lovely pictures of nature have one thing in common, they are unforgettable. They could also be a profound source of beauty, wonder and joy.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year would feature twenty-one categories for young and adult photographers that include WILD-I that seeks ‘natural world stories’ clicked on mobile devices by young citizens.
